Dean Agus Band: News/Updates
"Crashing Through The Snow In A Four Piece Band We Play..." - December 9, 2008

COMING SOON @ A VENUE NEAR U!!!!!
Thats right everyone!!! Its that time of year already, and Im so behind...Hell, I havn't even got myself anything for Xmas yet!!!
So we are fast approaching what we will soon call the year 2009. Wow, what an accomplishment for man and Earth alike. I was born in 1974, and now it seems like a hundred years ago! My how time flies so quickly the older you get! All the grown ups used to warn me not to grow up so quickly, but I didnt listen! So now who's lol???
Well to get to some MAJOR news on behalf of Dean Agus Band...If you havn't heard already, (and the hint was in the title of this Headline) we are changing our band name back to CRASH MEADOWS!
That's right, you heard correctly! I'm sure that many of you remember years ago when Medo and I started Crash Meadows along with (good friends both then & now) James Hackney (drums) & Will Garrabrant (Bass).
We worked very hard to make a name for ourselves. We played every venue we cud, entered competitions, had an unmeasurable amount of coverage in the local as well as regional newspapers/magazines. Crash Meadows set the bar on popular statewide morning tv show -Channel 7's "Good Morning Arkansas" with the record of any local band with six appearances, as well as made the semi-final rounds in of the "Arkansas Musician Shocase" in consecutive years.
Needless to say, there was alot of success for the band who was on the rise to potentially bigger things to come. Unfortunately, the band broke up ironically after our biggest show to date, which was Riverfest-04. The show included 3 local acts opening for band " Blues Traveler" in front of thousands at hand! Lots of things were going on...too many to mention (especially with Medo and I alongside our rhythm section which was @ the time 4 drummers and two bass players later! With the band changing so much, guess we never quite got comfortable in the fashion that we have now with Dean Agus Band. Chemistry is such a huge factor, and with this band...we know without a doubt that we have that.
Well, here we are again starting the year off as Crash Meadows again for our New Years Eve show @ "Bogarts" (formally known as Boogies).
It should be a blast, and I hope to see you all there! If you cant make it to that event, I urge you to come support Crash Meadows as we take on another challenge in 2009! We are all about the music and we cant thank you enough for coming out to see us! LOVE TO ALL!!! HAVE A MERRY XMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Sincerely, Dean & Crash Meadows
FALL IS HERE & DEAN AGUS IS "AWAKE" - October 7, 2008
"AWAKE" so happens to be the name of my latest cd project. It means to stay awake to what matters. Basically, Its saying that we should all try and pay attention to things that can make a difference! The new cd includes 13 original songs which help make this into my first actual solo-acoustic debu. I had a great time recording this album (which was literally thrown together in hours) with friend/producer Paul Moore of Noelani Music Productions.
It was a slow start, but once we got moving, everything started to flow correctly and fell into place just right. I even threw in a Bonus track entitled "A World Made of Clay", which was written for late friend David Clayton Shoptaw. The song is actually a hidden track and appears @ exactly 11:06 after/on the 12th song. Nov. 06, was his birthday, so I thought that would be a good idea in his honor.
We had a deadline to meet along with my Etch-A-Sketch artwork which also needed to be completed by the very same night as the cd release on October, 3rd 2008.
I was a little nervous and tired, and so many other things that I didnt really need to experience during the week of the show! I needed to focus on both the artwork and my cd being done. It seemed like a long-shot for sure...but somehow we managed to pull together!
After all, this was all about trying to help benefit the "Arkansas Children's Hospital" in Little Rock, Arkansas. They were the charity of my choice for the evening there at Chuck Dodson's place simply called "The Gallery @404B" located here in Beautiful Dowtown Hot Springs, Arkansas.
As busy as I was, the week prior to the show...I had a special performance aired on Channel 7's "Good Morning Arkansas". The Etch-A-Sketches that I brought to the studio were a huge hit! They said they've never seen anything like it before, and so they let everyone view them on the show... I even played little nit-bits of a few songs, including one of my more requested originals which debu's on my 'AWAKE" album entitled "Blow Your Mind."
I got alot of great responses from many friends who sent emails and texts to quickly compliment me for a job well done.
Later that week the whole band played in Little Rock @ a place called "Rock City Lounge" for another benefit for "Children's Hospital."
That actually went real well, and we had a great time!
I spent lots of hours trying to complete everything in time...and as luck would have it, the show went real well at the Gallery. The Mona Lisa Etch-A-Sketch that I spent hours on, was the very first to be sold. It went for $250! And then I basically sold out of all the cd's that I brought with me to the event. Things went real well, and Chuck seemed very pleased.
The band is staying very busy right now, and I hope you all can try and make a show very soon! Please check into our show dates page from time to time! We'd love to play for you and we always appreciate everyone & anyone who makes an effort to come out & see us! Thanks again and again...much love from DAB!!! -Dean
P.S. By the way...if anyone is interested in ordering the "AWAKE" album, please email me with your order nowThey are only $10 +ship/hand

DAB WEBSITE IS BACK WITH LOTS OF UPDATES!!!!! - August 19, 2008
So sorry it took us this long to get our website up and running again...However, thanks to our great friends at myspace.com, we managed to stay in touch with everyone as best as possible. Now that our site is back, I will update you with all the great things you need to know about. We have ALOT to catch up on, so lets go!
Lets see, where do I begin??? It's been a crazy busy summer for DAB and me in general! I have so much do and so little time...but those of you who know me well, know that I seem to unwillingly thrive on last minute situations, or at least it appears that way. Some time's I feel like I have more deadlines than most hospital respirators! (sorry, that was a bit tasteless) No, really...lets do a quick rundown!
I am presently working on a new acoustic album that is due no later than about 5weeks from now, I have committed myself to having about 20-30 pieces of my artwork done in time for my upcoming gallery-walk art-show (more details later). I am in the process of trying to work out a deal with sponsors for a possible commercial shoot for a big benefit DAB is doing for "Children's Hospital" in late September @ "Rock City Lounge" in Little Rock, Arkansas (in which time is once again our enemy!)
I am in the process of trying to get more DAB- 'Eleven World's Apart" as well as Crash Meadows- "Damage Done" CD's made in time to sell to public on Saturday, August 30th for our big concert event with "Spin Doctors" @ Magic Springs! And in the midst of this all...I am still giving guitar lessons during the week days, and performing five nights/wk from Tuesday-Saturday! I have no time!!! And by the way, I forgot about fund-raisers, weddings, My radio guest appearance next Sunday August 24th, @6pm on 101.9theRocket, an "Arkansas Times Magazine", as well as "Nightflying Magazine", and three other magazine articles and interviews! Did I miss something??? Oh yeah, on September 6th, DAB is doing a special guest concert show for "The School of Rock" kids from Hot Springs (who, by the way. will also special guest with me on "The Unknown Legends Music Show" this coming Sunday night, and not to mention more confusing dates to keep up with...a KATV-channel 7's "Good Morning Arkansas" appearance on Monday, September 22nd sometime between 9am-noon? Not really sure on the time, and last but not least.....It's Neelah's Birthday (my soon to be 7yr old daughter) on September 13, which is also another very busy weekend for us with the H.S. Annual Hawg Rally Weekend, so I have to make it all work out somehow. Pee-Wee Herman says, "Today's secret password is BUSY!!!!!!!!"
I think for once, I may have overdone myself and the band... But then again, like I said..there's a lot of pressure here with timing and all, but I think we always seem to get the job done. I will look at it all in a very positive way and say that I am very glad to be as busy as i am instead of begging or looking for work. I'm not complaining really, I AM happy. I'm looking forward to so much, the hard part is where to start.
Going back to this art show that I am doing...As strange fate would have it for me, I most recently recognized a hidden talent that I was not aware of possessing. Long story short, My daughter got an Etch-A-Sketch for Christmas, and I have gotten extremely good at drawing pictures on it. My artwork was impressive enough to make me a featured artist in the upcoming Gallery Walk of October 3rd, 2008. I will be showing/selling my Etch-A-Sketch art at "T h e G a l l e r y @ 4 0 4 B" located next to "LaRay's Diamond Center" in beautiful downtown Hot Springs.
I have decided to give half of my art-work profits to "Children's Hospital" of Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition, I am releasing a new acoustic cd in which I am prepared to sell that evening, as well as give profits towards the same cause. I have gotten some really great support from some of you and I thank you whether it was your donation of time, money, or just helping find other sponsors to help fund the new cd, artwork, fliers & advertisement, etc. Time is surely running out, and I would be very grateful if anyone would like to be added as a sponsor. You will be mentioned on various advertisement, as well as inside the new cd case.
If anyone is interested in a donation or sponsorship of any kind, you can email me epicsoul11@hotmail.com.
I thank you so much for your time and your support, and most importantly for your love of life and people! No matter what anyone says... We can't do it alone, we need each other, and always will... God Bless All, & COME SEE US @ OUR SHOW WITH "SPIN DOCTORS"!!!!!! All my love- dean
P.S. DAB gives a Shout-Out to great friends & supporters Mona & Jodi ---thank you :0)
And also to Mary Holt & The Wild Hearts S.C. of Little Rock, AR! THANK YOU ALL!
BY THE WAY....HERE IS ONE OF MY ART PIECES...
"Marching to the Beat of a New Drummer" - March 11, 2008
Hey...It's not what you think. Just trying to be creative with the title since we are now in the month of March. Do not mean to mislead anyone, Hampton is still our drummer! Hell, we miss seeing him behind us back there, and of course, everything he brings to the table is greatly missed also. The fundraiser went well for the most part...but I think that we could've and should've raised more money for Hampton. Oh Well, the good news is...he will be ready to perform again in a couple of weeks. Not real sure yet which show will be his return, but we will try and keep you posted on that as we get there ourselves.
Well, well, well.... it's been kinda crazy lately. With the rain, snow, sleet, and sun all wrapped up in just a matter of 7-10 days amongst each other. I just can't for the life of me figure out how to dress right anymore. Maybe soon it will all finally settle as we approach another Spring and what promises to be a very warm/hot summer.
There is some great news that we are wanting to share with you all. Remember the competition that we performed in and won @ Magic Springs here in Hot Springs last Fall? Well, we've been in touch about our future show with two different possibilities. Those in which include Gin Blossoms, and or Spin Doctors. They have sent off our promo-packages to both management teams and are waiting for a response from either. They said that which ever one we hear from first, then that will be the show.
Well, we are very excited and thrilled to share the stage with either act! Especially a chance to perform on that huge ampi-theater that was only built very recently. We will def keep you all posted on which band and what specific date the concert will be. I am behind once again on updating our dates and what not...and believe me, it's very easy to do. I will take the time to add a few more shows so that you may try and keep up with our where abouts.
I guess that's it for now? Thanks for your time and support, and see you soon!!! -DAB (dean agus)
"A LITTLE BROKE DOWN, DAB GONE IT!" - February 8, 2008
Well, we've seemed to hit a little brick wall for the time being. Between my hurt shoulder, and now Hampton's broke arm... Yup, you heard it right, our drummer Hampton on a very early morning had a terrible accident which resulted with him lying on the bottom row of his very steep front-door stairway @ his home sometime in mid Jan of this year...
He says to me, I'm probably gonna be out for @ least 6-8 weeks! I thought, woh, we gotta do something to help out our buddy Hampton! How's he gonna make it for the next couple of months?
So we decided to throw him a Fund-raiser here in Hot Springs, Arkansas @ Maxine's. It will be on Thursday @ 7pm on Feb.21st. There will be a $2 cover that will go to Hampton, food & drinks, raffles & giveaways, and lots of live music from good friends and local musicians from all around the Spa City area.
Chuck Dodson is a very close friend of Hampton's, and agreed to help me out with this event. He is helping me put together some ideas, and figuring out what will be the line-up for the music and what not. So we do thank Chuck for all of his efforts and kindness in helping us put together what will hopefully become successful evening with lots of good friends and lots of money to be raised as well. We urge you to tell anyone not to miss this, their help is greatly needed and appreciated. Hope to see you there, Thank you and God Bless! -Dean
"What's Happening with DAB in 2008?" - January 22, 2008
Well, first of all...here's a very late Happy New Year's to you all!!! And let me just say that the New Year's Eve Party was no where near what we were expecting it to be...But never-the-less we had a blast! We want to give special thanks to Dave Hughes & Unknown Legends for going through with it all. We also want to thank those who made an effort to come and share that special evening with us. And to the rest that did not, and could not make it...Well, we just simply missed you and are hoping to see you for the next one...
Kinda funny how everyone plays along and tries to make their own New Year's Resolutions and what not, even if it sounded like a good idea when they said it then, We all know that hardly any of us truly stay that committed.
My New year's resolution was mainly geared towards trying to lose weight (probably the most popular) and try to get in better physical shape than what I am at this time.
Unfortunately a chain of several bad events have taken place in 2008 for me... starting with getting a silly parking ticket on the very first day of the year! I said to myself, "Man this is not a good sign, and it may be a very long year for me!" And then I will also mention that I have been suffering through quite a few nights with a strange kind of shoulder pain which has managed to stretch it's way down my arm and somehow keeping the tips of my fingers numb now for several weeks. I finally went to the Doctor and it seems as though they are diagnosing me with a torn rotating-cuff. I'm not real positive what it is for sure, but whatever it is, I want it fixed! Very uncomfortable, and pain medication is barely even an alternative for any rest at this point... I can only pray that surgery is not the issue here. I will find out more soon. But for now, I am still toughing through the shows and trying to cope with what I have to deal with...
DAB is staying busy as usual. We had a great time in Batesville, Arkansas in December, performing for some troops as they were set to leave for Iraq once again.
We were also looking forward to doing a show @ Club2720 here in Hot Springs a week ago where we were hoping to meet Darren McFadden (Arkansas' Star Running Back & Heisman Tropy 2nd runner up) for his NFL going away party, but unfortunately he canceled that date. However, we still had a great time!
We also had the opportunity of playing in front of a hostile crowd for a show @ "Counterpoint" in North Little Rock last Friday.
As far as the band goes... Lots of upcoming shows at the Upperdeck, VFW Post4501(Batesville, AR.), Maxine's, and a lot more including a rare unplugged acoustic performane @ Shooter's on 7 South.
One show we are looking forward to is the big show @ Magic Springs this year as we promise to keep you posted on that event when we find out more ourselves. On Wednesdays you can still catch me @ Slim's, Thursday's I will be @ Dad's Place, Friday's 6-9pm @ Shooter's, and Saturdays still at Doe's Eat Place on 7 South 6-9pm as well... There are lots and lots of updating to get to. We thank you for your patience and we hope to see you soon! By the way...We have new T-Shirts on sale at the shows, so come and get one! And we would like to thank our sponsors for their support! Cd's are almost gone so if you don't have one...now is the time to buy one!!! Thanks and Much love to all!!!!!! -Dean
P.S. Our friend Venus has moved on to a better place. Although I never truly got to know her very well, she seemed like a great person and i know she will be sorely missed... Here's to Venus.
"Giving Thanks, Christmas Merries, and Year's New Happiness!!! - November 20, 2007
Ahhh, the time has come already and so soon for that Big Fat Turkey and lots of other great food to stuff ourselves with...another year of singing sweet carols and exchanging gifts for all to enjoy and love (for a few weeks...or months if your lucky), and finally another fantabulas year comes to an end... but not without another party to remember for the rest of your life with all of your friends and strangers alike to make it the best place on Earth to be for that one special night...
Yes, my friends...This the season, and I have no idea what to get those people In my life in which I dearly love and care about. Unfortunately, I must confess...I am one of those last minute shoppers! But I will tell you this. When I know what I want to go after, I go in and get it. I do not spend hours upon hours scoping every single item in the store, like some of you...I hope I don't upset anyone, but in my opinion... I think that Christmas should mainly be about the kids. Lets buy all the kids their presents, and then we can visit and eat. Why have to obligation to buy everyone a present? You can't help that when you know that someone else is buying you something also...Oh well, things will never change, and who am I? It's just an opinion people...thats all!
Ok, so lets talk about "Dean Agus Band"! Well from the start of January till now, we have been pretty busy, and achieved some great things including winning the Boogies annual Battle of the Bands competition in January, and then went on to compete in the "Arkansas Times Musician Showcase" finals in Little Rock (in which we finished in the top three spots) We also made the front cover of the Arkansas Times magazine in late March. We had performed at some great festivals and showcases including radio interviews and live performances on the air. We also managed to win the Magic Springs first annual Battle of the Bands competition earning the right to open for a well known act in Spring of 2008'.
The band has performed many out of town shows this year probably more-so than ever. Other than our hometown of Hot Springs, Arkansas...other cities include El Dorado, Fayetteville, Texarkana, Hope, Arkadelphia, Little Rock, Russelville, and Hot Springs Village...
Our myspace site has gotten so many hits and we get friend requests everyday from strangers who like our stuff.
We are running into the one year anniversary of our cd release party on December 15th. I can't believe it's been a year already and So much has happened! I have been writing a few new tunes, as I am perhaps itching to eventually try and do a solo album someday. I've always wanted to release one... It would probably also be a little more manageable regarding my pocketbook... I had a few issues with that matter from our last cd, but I am almost there...And I've learned from my mistakes to say the least.
Well, as we plan on finishing out the year with more road trips, as well as shows inour area... we are however closing out the year with a BIG BANG, and urge and invite you to come join us @ the "Low Key Arts Building" across from the Velda Rose Hotel/Dad's Place @ the end of downtown Hot Springs for an awesome "New Year's Eve Party" with great live music (by us) and all of our friends SHOULD & WILL be there... It will be a blast! We are charging a door admission fee (not sure how much yet) but you will get to drink all you want once you're in...The building, food and beverages are sponsored by David Hughes of Unknown legends Booking Agency, and Slim's...Hope to see you all there, and thanks again for your great support and love for live & local music!!! Season's Greatings to all, and please try and be safe-God Bless You!!!- Dean Agus Band
DAB- "STANDING STRONG TOWARDS THE FALL" - August 24, 2007
Ok friends....can anyone say Hot Summer??? Wow! I think I spent a lot more time indoors then I did out. As a matter of fact... I KNOW that I spent more time out of the way of the devastating rays that did nothing but make me sweat pretty badly, (not to mention... I must've taken an average of 3/4 showers a day! Ahhh, but all of our favorite time of the year is just weeks away. The Fall! I think most of you would agree with me that it is always beautiful here in Hot Springs during the Fall season.
Now, that I've complained about being hot and sweaty... (now, now) Let's talk MUSIC.
We've had some really great shows in the last month or two. Couldn't quite point out to you as far as which show stood out? I always have a great time @ Slim's on Wednesday nights. The crowd has really grown since my first few weeks. And Chris (Slim) is really a great guy. If it wasn't for his height, lol, I may not be able to even get set up without his assistance. But really, he is very thoughtful for ex: He may have heard a little mur-mur about some of the chairs being to hard to sit on after a few hours... so he went and bought some of those seat cushions (you know the one's your gramma has on her dining room chairs) for the ladie's sensitive hinies.
Yeah, we always have a blast @ Slim's.
Now you can also catch me every Thursday @ Martini's on the Bay, located above "The Backporch Grill" behind Sunbay on 7south. Man, did they fix that place up nicely? I would go as far as saying that maybe along with "Capone's, (the old Ohio Club) Martini's is one of the more classier places that I've been to here in Hot Springs. If your out for a nice evening for dinner then I suggest thursday night @ Backporch Grill, then run upstairs afterwards and come catch a few tunes with entertainment by me starting @ 8pm.
We had one Hell of a show once again @ "Maxine's" on the 11th of August. Accompanied by Jeff Coleman and the Feeders from Little Rock, Arkansas. Jeff and the guys did a fantastic job for the opener. I think everyone enjoyed them quite a bit. They are a little different, but sometimes that's good. We played for two hours straight after Jeff and the guys. It was probably one of the more solid performances we've had in a long time. It felt right, and we mixed things up pretty well with original music along with some of the best cover material we play. Bert (the soundman) always does a spectacular job for us, and we were very pleased to have a great outcome of attendance as well. Fortunately for us, a gentlemen by the name of David Steinberg video-taped the whole two hour show on his camera. I got a little bit of it after the performance, and was very happy to hear such good quality sound and what seemed to be a HD type viewing through the lens. I am purchasing a copy and will debate on possibly selling this show with the options of maybe doing some editing before-hand. But that will be a possibility as we will keep you informed on that matter. I think I went overboard today on our news and updates! Hope to see you soon...and don't forget to log on to our myspace page. deanagus/myspace.com also we have a new page up on musicnation.com THANK YOU ALL!!!! See you soon! -Dean
Dean Agus Band- What Next??? - July 10, 2007
Well, here we are in July and so much has happened... We've performed in a few places we've never played before. Fat Jack's in Texarkana, Capone's (formally The Ohio Club) here in Hot Springs, and we also perormed an outdoor fund-raiser event in Hot Springs in the parking lot of Power Boats. There were lots of things happening on that very hot day of June 30th. We were one of many bands to perform on the stage. An event where there were special guests such as the Carribian Tan, and Hooter Girls, LOL... and someone most Arkansan's admire and root for- Jermaine Taylor (World Champion Boxer from Little Rock, Arkansas).
There were lots of autographs and memorabilia signed from the Champ in person... So that was pretty neat. We however were sweating up a storm, but everyone that was there said that we've never sounded better.
We had a fantastic show June 22nd @ Maxine's with The Seth Freeman Band. They were great as ever. And my favorite part was the very last set when we all had a free jam together...and I had to leave the stage during our performance of the song CrossRoads (The Eric Clapton Version). The heat was too strong for me during the showcasing of some bad ass guitar playing between Seth Freeman and Medo Agus. You can obviously tell that Seth was no stranger to the art of cutting heads or guitar battle (if you will). Let's just say he brought Medo out of his shell a little bit. "I was playing stuff that I'd never played before, or thought I knew how to play" quoted Medo. "Lots of respect to Seth, he really is a great guitarist and showman", Medo added. "At that point, you either play or get off the stage!...And so I played! Man, What a rush!" And indeed it was a moment to see and a time he'll never forget. At one point of their performance, they helplessly had everyone up on their feet clapping in Awe. "Great Times", said Medo.
Well, we have another show coming up @ Maxine's on August11th with Jeff Coleman & The Feeders (from Little Rock). They were one of the final five bands @ The Rev Room (along with us) for the Arkansas Times Musician Showcase Competition. It should be a good show...
Hope to see you all soon, and have a great month of July! Be safe and God Bless All!!! -Dean
"May" this be a great month! - May 7, 2007
It's may of 2007, and there's alot to be done...We are trying to book more out of town venues as you can see by our calender dates. The band is struggling a bit with the thought of being burned out in the same ol' same ol here in our local club scene. So it doesn't hurt much to try and branch out a little. Get your name out as much as possible.
We are excited to be performing again in Fayetteville @ Gypsy's! We were given a lot of compliments... and were asked to come back twice, once this month, and again in June. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the stage that faced the popular Dixon Street.
Well, in more news we are setting up some recent ideas for an upcoming music video! That's right...A video featuring our original song, "World's Apart". I've met with Todd Murray, the Camera Tech/Producer, and we've come up with several ideas for the video itself, but have not yet decided the location for the shoot. We will most likely be advertising in the paper for all the help we can get on filling up the scene with extras, so we'll keep you posted on that.
Lots of excitement to be experienced this summer. I don't know where to start, and i don't know how it will end... But I can assure you, that we will make the best of it! Take care, and God Bless!!! -Dean Agus
"APRIL SHOWERS AWAY ALL THE BLUES...." - April 1, 2007
Well, well, well everyone... I can't even express how sorry I am about not updating my news/journal to keep u in touch with what's happening with us. I have been so miserably sidetracked with so much in my life. Well, I'm sure you all get that way sometimes? So let me try and sum up whats been happening for the last few months with the Dean Agus Band.
Lets see....Since February, we have been busy playing gigs ranging from grand openings, weddings, clubs, cafe's, banquets, and showcases to name a few things that come to mind... Speaking of the showcases......we were chosen as one of the 20 bands to compete in the "Arkansas Times Musician Showcase Competition" in March. The semi-finals round (in which we won) was held @ Sticky Fingers in Little Rock. It was a real fun time, and you can catch our performance from that night on YouTube.
So anyhow, we did happen to make the final five spots for an appearance @ The Rev Room, hoping to win and clinch a spot in Riverfest 07. Unfortunately, we had a little bit of bad luck with our equipment during our final performance on March 3rd...
We were very pleased to have such a great turnout with our friends and fans from Hot Springs! It was a blast to say the least. We ended up with a few points away from 2nd place. Not bad, when I heard that they started off with at least 2,000 demos or so... I just wanted to thank everyone who came and participated with us in representing Hot Springs! The neat thing was.... we were the only band in the final round of the competition that wasn't from Little Rock. So u could say that the odds were against us from the start. However, we did our best and you all seemed proud of us. Thank U!!!
In other news...our very good friend Mona spent the whole month of March in a hospital bed @ National Park Medical Center, and great news!!!! She is finally out and is doing quite well. She actually made her first appearance lastnight @ the Big Chill to come see us. Mona, we love you and we pray that God continues to heal every bad thing in your body! Bless you...
Well, it's back to the drawing board for us. We have a fundraiser for the Tornado victims of Dumas on Saturday, April 21st @ the Pine Bluff Convention Center. We urge anyone to try and help out with that tragic situation. There will be many bands performing as we expect to go on in Mid-afternoon. Followed by a Hawg's Pizza Gig back in Hot Springs that evening @ 8pm.
Well, I hope you all can come see us again real soon! We love playing for people who appreciate live music and support us in spreading the word. Also check us out on myspace/deanagusband Thank you and God love you! -Dean
"Back On Top!!!" - January 13, 2007
Well, well, well......first of all, this is long overdue..."HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" And secondly, "We did it!!!!!!" Dean Agus Band are the winners of the 2007 Battle of the Band's competition, which is held annually @ Boogie's in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We came into this thing with the hopes of at least placing somewhere in the top three spots, but after our brilliant performance...there was no looking back! We just knew we had it wrapped up after an intense half hour of original music that seemed more perfect than any performance we've ever given! The crowd was amazed at the energy and showmanship we provided with every effort to please and entertain. With that being said, we brought our "A Game" and our hard work paid off.
Now the band is looking forward to bigger things in some future upcoming shows that could potentially give us a boost in the right direction. Don't get me wrong...We love Hot Springs. This is our home, but to be honest, we've played every venue, and there's nothing really left to accomplish here.
We are looking forward to February 24th, when we play a show @ Juanita's in Little Rock! We are opening up for a band called "Ingram Hill". We need a s much support as we can get for this particular show. If we impress them with everything we got, then who knows what happens from there? But I can assure you it will be a good thing.
Well, everyone....sorry it took so long to update our site. Just being busy...and a little bit of the lazyees as well. LOL! We thank all of you for listening to our new cd's, for wearing our t'shirts, and for coming to see us live!!! See you soon! -Dean
Dean Agus Band- Still Rolling!!! - October 1, 2006
It's October, and I'm a month behind! I'm sure all of you know how easy it is to get that way. Well, there's lots going on. We performed a little @ the Big Chill for David Hughs' (from 101.9therocket) birthday party, and that went real well. We also had the honor of singing a few songs with Dayton Waters a few weeks ago @ Boogies...And thats always awesome!
The band is staying crazy busy from week to week, as our calender promises to present our shows from now until early next year of 2007! We've gotten better and better as we go. Some nights, I feel as though we step it up a notch when people are dancing and enjoying themselves. We seem a bit challenged to keep them on that dance floor once they hit it. For the most part, I think we're doing pretty good. Some places like Boogies, it's a real challenge knowing that you are competing with the DJ during breaks.
In other news...I had the opportunity of running the sound/music for the "Montgomery County Nursing Home" beauty pageant competition. It was hosted by Miss Arkansas 2007, Amber Bennet. I had a chance to speak a few times with Amber, and let me tell you......she really knows how to carry herself. She sang a few songs and sounded great! We had talked about possibly doing some recording together. She definitely has a presence about her that demands attention. And by the way, she's also very beautiful. I wish her the very best in Vegas for the Miss America competition in January.
Our tailgate party @HSU went real well. Later that evening we performed @ the Clubhouse (also in Arkadelphia). Everyone went nuts and raved about how good we were. The band began to wonder why we don't always get a response like that @ home. Well, we figured it out! It's because we've spoiled you all. We're here every week. You guys get to hear us anytime. But when we play out of town for a fresh crowd... It's all new to us as well, and we do our best to make that great first impression and win people over. So far so good...
Thanks once again for your time, and if you get a chance to...please log onto our myspace page. You can search us by email epicsoul@deanagus.com
Now everyone have a happy and safe Halloween!!! -D. Agus
"Music To My Ears" - August 26, 2006
Hello everyone,
Hope all is well with you and your loved-ones. It seems as though things are moving at a speed right now that is hard to grasp completely. To update you on the Dean Agus Band. Not only are we pretty much booked up from now till almost Christmas, we are steadily working to finish our studio project with the new cd (which I am asked about frequently), But I am getting the word that it may be done sooner than we think. We are in the works of closing a deal with Summit Arena to do a show in the first weekend of October with -hit band "Lonestar", and hopefully we will have a booth set up and ready to sell our new cd's. I, however will not try and rush it only for this reason. I am crossing my fingers that all goes well. Yes, we are busy as ever... I myself am playing 4-6 nights a week. Please check out our schedule and come see our shows whenever you get the opportunity to. We do thank you all for your support and hope to see you soon. By the way, we are doing a special unplugged show @ "The Big Chill" on the 8th & 9th of September. It should be a blast! Keep us in mind! take care- n' God Bless!

"Nothing Like the Jackson 5" - July 18, 2006
Rumor has it, that we're nothing like the Jackson 5. Can you believe that? We're a little dissapointed. I guess it's back to the drawing boards.
But no really, on a serious note......things are really moving along for us. We gave Maxine's their record night on both, the door and drink sales. We also have picked up a few new venues that we will be performing at real soon. To name a few......The Big Chill, Hawg's Pizza, Bufallo Wild Wings , and the newley remodeled- Rock N' Roll Alley (Located across from the Summit Arena). Kicking of the 1st weekend in August, you can come check us out @ Mojo's on the 4th, for the first time as a band since the huge New Year's Eve Party when we performed as the re-united "Crash Meadows". And on Saturday the 5th, you can come party with us @ 3 Card Charlie's, where we always have a blast. We also have some big tailgate parties coming up @ Henderson State University on Sat. September 16th, as well as a later show that evening @ The Clubhouse in Arkadelphia. Hope everyone's ready, because we are set to record (finally) on the first Sunday of August. I am very anxious to hear the outcome of the music chemisty of this band in which we've developed quite well. People are still amazed when we tell them that we have not had even one practice as a band. We are just simply too busy. But we make it all work. However, we will be getting together for a little bit of rehearsing before we set foot in the studio. That might not be a bad idea. Now leaving you with advise good friend Fink told me the other night at the Hawgs Pizza parking lot......"Don't be so serious, sometimes try to have some fun." -Dean Agus Band

Dean Agus Band......Impresses - June 7, 2006
Our four piece band will be together for 3 months officially on the 17th of June. I can pretty much garantee you that we are the best band around this area (to have never practiced once). That's right......from the moment we began strumming our first chords as a band on St. Patrick's Day at the Austin Hotel's -Rumor Lounge, to our most recent shows. No practice. I don't neccesarily pride on not practicing. But I will say this much about this band......It is very nice to be able to show up at a gig with professional talent that can get the job done anywhere and at anytime without pressure or worry about the venue/occasion. This is an all around very talented group of musicians who are great at what they do. Even though our schedule doesn't really allow it, our practice time is on stage. We had a few rough starts, don't get me wrong, but overall. I am pleased at the confidence level, and the chemistry that we have, that is constantly evolvinging into potentially more and more of a promising future.
So far, we have gotten such great responses from all the most recent shows of the past month. Everyone is telling us the we are one of the most impressing bands that they have booked. So I am happy with that. And we are booked everywhere from now as far as September. We appreciate your support so much and want to do everything in our power to make sure you enjoy our show. If you have any suggestions/comments/new ideas/opinions/etc. Please do not hessitate to email me at epicsoul@deanagus.com
Thanks so much...and I am still hoping for a better idea on a cd release. So let the anticipation continue. We are continueing to get tighter as a group before we start recording, and we are still in the process of writing all new material. My mind is constantly working to give you all something good to listen to. Thanks again. And "PLEASE COME AND SEE US"
- Dean
"Strumming Along" - May 3, 2006
Hello friends! Hope you are all doing well with your lives. It's so hard to keep in touch with all of you. I apologyze for my lack of motivation. I need to somehow, try and stay on top of things.
Well, I can honestly say that I am as busy with my music as I've ever been. I continue to play six nights a week now, so come see me......go ahead and pick a night. The funny thing is, is that some of you would probably pick my one night off, wouldn't you. Just a little humor there. Let's see, the month of April so far has kept me involved as well as the band, performing shows ranging from sport-bars and night-clubs to weddings and charity events, as well as a fundraiser for fellow musician Bob Benoit, of the Lucky's house band. As most of you know, he was involved in an unfortunate accident after a show, while packing up his music gear, being hit by a drunk driver......putting him in a bad situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. The Benefit had a great turnout. I was very proud to have my band be part of the very talented line-up of local performer's whom I admired growing up and watching them perform in various venues. It's so special to me to get a compliment from some of those great musicians. I think the town of Hot Springs has a lot of talent. There are so many hard working muisicans who need all of your support in this town. Without you, the live music scene will never grow, and quite possibly turn into something special. Wouldn't that be great! For Hot Springs to be known as the live music scene capital of our state. It could happen. Now that I have updated you on my where-abouts......do come out if given the chance. Come up and say hello. I thank everyone so much for all the support, and all of the excitement that you have ever been a part of, while building my music, and growing each day with the thought of living a dream in hopes that someday it will be a reality. Thanks so much! -Dean
"Agus Brothers Re-assemble" - March 30, 2006
First of all, I would like to apologize for not keeping my site updated. The main issue involved my computer being filled with several viruses, and I simply could not get any work done online. But thanks to my good friend Patrick, from HIT computers, who is more/less a computer genious, I am once again able to do my thing.
Well, let's update you on what happened in March. In the early part of the month I was invited by CBS Rockstar Season 2 to do an invite-audition in Atlanta, Georgia. I was told that I would be performing 3 songs at the Hard Rock Cafe' in front of two producers. Well, to make a long story short......I drove to Atlanta with Daniel (my bass player), when we got there, I was told I could only do about one minute and a half of one song. I was caught off gaurd, and did not have a chance to showcase my talent with any versital qualities. I decided to do an original tune at the last minute, and It seems as I performed well......but a little nervous. Two producers, a very bright-spotlit stage, and CBS camera rolling for live footage. It was an experience to say the least. After My very short performance, they complimented me on my song..... however, I did not get a call back from them. They are looking for the top 50 artist out of 11 major cities, which could include thousands of auditions. I knew my chances were slim going into it. But I had a great time.
St. Patrick's Day was the blast off for the Dean Agus Band. We have a new addition to the band. I am excited to say that my brother Medo is now living in Hot Springs once again. He moved away roughly 3 years ago to work at FedEx in Memphis, Tennessee. Ironically, I work at UPS. I guess together, you can say we're "FedUp!" Anyhow, Medo got transferred here when a job finally became available. So without hessitation, we are together performing again. We were once called "Crash Meadows", but for now we are the Dean Agus Band. I am advertised as Dean Agus in several venues, and I am midstream into a solo recording project in "Studio C". So it seemed more logical to stay with the name.
Our 1st gig as a 4piece band was on St. Patrick's Day at the "Rumor's Lounge" in the Austin Hotel. The evening was packed with fun and excitement. Although, we have yet to have an actual practice, every one seemed to enjoy it, and was full of compliments. we had a great time and played for a while actually. We've showed signs of improvement at our most recent performances since then. Our latest shows included the Village Pub, and Garbonzo's. We are really coming together as a band with strong chemistry, and a good musical vibe. I am really enjoying this band more than any other project I've been involved in. The potential is so unlimited. I am hoping to get everyone back in the studio with me to finish this cd as a band project. I will update you more on this matter when the time comes. For now I urge you to come and check out our shows any chance you get. There's a different feel to our music with Medo being back, an I think you would really enjoy the sound we have to offer for your your entertainment. Thanks for your time and support. Please sign my guestbook, and go to the calender page for details on shows. Thanks so Much!!! -Dean Agus
"Busy, Busy, Busy!" - February 1, 2006
Well my friends,
It's that time of the year for me, as you can see on my calender dates. They are pretty full. I am so busy right now that I actually had to turn a few gigs down. I really hate doing that...but hey, This is good news for me. The racemeet is here, and things are pretty steady right now. I'm sure that any musician in this town especially, can tell you that it's feast or famine with our music income. We have to take every bit of what we can when it comes. And living in a seasonal tourist town such as Hot Springs, you have your advantages and vice-versa. Well, I am officially performing six nights a week right now. So here is... my busy time, and it seems as though I am barely allowing any rest for me. But, on the other hand......how many people can actually say that they get to do what they love to do for a living? Not very many. Although I stay tired alot, things could really be worse, so I feel very blessed.
To sorta' update you alittle bit......I have been performing with a drummer who sat in on a short-notice gig one night. Well, he turned out to be an excellent performer with great creative skills. Hampton is his name. We've played several gigs together now, and yet not one practice. He and I both agree, that there is a really good musical vibe between our styles. We are looking at maybe putting together a permanant band, and building something special. I am very excited at what we have to work with as the future of the Dean Agus Band looks to be a promising one. Lately I have tried out some bass players to fit the mold, and I've found some very promising talent that I think I can work well with. The potential of something great looks closer and closer. I will fill you in a little more, when the time comes. I urge you to please come and check out the band when we are performing our few friday night shows. It should be a fun time and we hope to see you there! Oh, one last thing..... I also want to mention that I've indulged in some converstaion with a couple of professinal friends (Todd Murray & Mike Glisson), about a possible video shoot sometime in the near future. Quite possibly before a cd release. I will be sure to inform you, as that matter is a pre-mature one at this time. Well, thanks for everyone's support. Hope to see you all soon! -Dean
